And Evol - Cathuria a couple of times. This sort of reminds me of my old stuff

It's a very lovely piece! The only criticism I have of it is that it would perhaps look a little more interesting if the girl were a little more off-centered. i know she already is (she's a bit lower than bei smack dab in the middle of the picture), but maybe a little off the corner? Juuust slightly? Might add a bit more intrigue?
Hehe, just a suggestion. Maybe it'd add a bit of that "background story" that agrapine was talking about.

Very niece work. I think it does show perspective, and that the not so exact link between the girl and her environment fits the title perfectly: it's the night, out of place and still there, all around us, but not tangible ... And the smoke gives it that extra zing, you know

there is little binding between the subject and the environment.
the lack of detail makes the girl very out of place.
the mist is more like a billboard, try to add some perspective.
as any good composition it needs a story... or even an element to leave room for interpretation.
on the other hand it shows potential so keep it up, maybe you get it better next time
