Description
A round bounced off of the hull of the Ma11-97 just above my head with a loud bang. Down the sights of my machine gun, I could see the vehicle it had come from, a little grey thing across the unploughed field from us. There was a shout from the turret and our gun boomed in reply. The little grey tank disintegrated in a cloud of smoke and flame. I looked across at our unphased driver.

"What're they thinking, throwing those things against us?" I asked, "They don't stand a chance! They just trying to waste our ammunition?"

"Yeah, if there were more of them and I wish there were," the driver replied, "All I know is that the longer we're killing them, the longer it'll be before we're shipped south to fight real tanks!"

First Samaari indigenous tank design used in the 11 Years War. Well, tankette. The thing's pretty small and lacking in armour or weaponry to tackle the modern Tenari tanks of the era. Nonetheless it was quick and nimble with enough firepower to engage lighter vehicles. Provides support to its big brother, the Pani 2 (a heavy tank) and also features a limber for towing various field guns (thus it can use those to engage armoured vehicles). External seating is provided for gun crews.

Samaar declared war on Tenar in conjunction with Lordrosia at the outset of the 11 Years War with the intention of drawing Tenari forces away from the Lordrosian border and so allowing a quick victory. Samaari forces achieved initial successes against the outnumbered northern Tenari defenders however advances ground to a halt just north of Lake Topor when the Samaari army outstretched its supply lines. The arrival of Tenari reinforcements saw these gains quickly reversed and within about a year, Tenari forces were advancing on the Samaari capital, Ukko.

The Pani 1 was capable of dealing with initial Tenari light tanks on the front but when the heavier Ma10-89's and more modern Ma11-97's arrived, they found themselves hopelessly outmatched. The larger Pani 2's were capable of engaging the larger Tenari tanks but lacked the numbers to be of great effect.

I decided to make the Samaarin's uniforms more like those you'd find in the 18th-19th centuries to represent the lack of modernisation throughout the Samaari armed forces. Indeed, all of their supplies were transported entirely by horse and cart!
