Description Colored pencils

I saw it fitting to use the lovely brown eyes of Robert Downey jr for reference, what with the character of Tony Stark being the worlds foremost engineer.

I'm not 100% certain that I'm finished with this drawing, but in the words of Leonardo da Vinci: art is never finished, only abandoned. Maybe I'll get back to it later. Also, I've been weighing the pros and cons of watermarks forever, but finally decided to go with my initials, light enough to be erasable if I keep working on this. Constructive criticism always appreciated.

Heh, I saw the eyes of David Tennant XD But isn't that the best part of art? Different interpretations by different people.

Yeah, that's true! And honestly, I've never realised before, but they have very similar eyes - big, brown and really expressive. That may be one of the many reasons they're both so popular actors..

this is absolutely beautiful work. personally i wouldn't change anything but i will make suggestions to do things differently. i would put a darker ring around the iris. perhaps mix in a few more different shades of brown in the eyes. make the eyelashes reflections a bit thinner. you can see the direction of the pencil used to shade it so maybe use alcohol on a cotton bud to smooth it. and maybe add a hint of red to some areas to make the brown areas stand out. your much more advanced then i at the mo so i shall one day hope to give better suggestions, although i know pegasuswarrior, jennomatt and lolliangel are a lot further advanced then me also in this style of drawing. so if you ask them im sure you would get a much better critique then this one

Thank you very much! While I've taken some art classes, I dedicated most of them to learning the basics of different painting techniques, so drawing is mostly self-taught. I've never even heard about that trick with the alcohol - and one of the reasons I don't draw so much anymore is because of lack of patience and frustration over sloppy shading! You make some really good points, especially about the eyelash reflections (that's gonna bug me forever )  Thank you for a very good critique

I love the gears in his eyes! You also did a great job capturing the expression in his face too!
