This is pretty good. That's the prince.
I see you desaturated and cropped the original. It looks better that way.

Yep, that's the prince all right!

I actually tinted it a little after I desaturated it; didn't want it to look too different. I really like working with pencil drawings in digital format.

I have no experience with that myself, but I'd imagine it to be quite challenging to not cause stylistic inconsistencies when doing so. (If you do stuff other than colour correction.)

What I have done however, is whenever I scan something to desaturate black and white area, since they tend to get some unwanted kind of tint in the process.

Do you do art yourself? I don't see anything on here....

No, I am not an artist, I'm afraid. I hope that doesn't utterly destroy my credibility now. ^^"
I just encounter this, when scanning hand-drawn Graphs for papers and the like.

Oh, makes sense.

It's easier than you think. Any bitmap-preserving program can be used. Even MS Paint has enough functionality to adjust lines and reshade areas and a lot of other stuff.

A little bit of tint in the final version is nice as long as it's applied uniformly. Hence desaturate-level adjust-touchup-tint.

I see, I guess I'll look up some tutorials the next time I try it. Until now, I just tried on my own and mostly failed. ^^"

What hue do you use for tinting? It looks like a shade of yellow.

I've just being using Microsoft Office's photo editor. Just a few sliders, but it gets the job done.

Wish I had Photoshop....

Sorry, I may have used the word "hue" wrong. I meant to ask which colour you tint the drawing in the end.

I'm mostly using Gimp - seeing as I run Linux - though I don't consider myself advanced in its use. I've only recently started reading some tutorials for due tasks.

I used Photo Filtre Studio (cost me 20-30 €, I think) on Windows before, which seemed very intuitive to me (certainly easier to get into then Gimp) and still seemed to have a wide array of features. I didn't really need much back then, though.

I just pulled the slider into an orangey area.

I see, thanks.
(Sorry to keep bothering you, but did I use "hue" wrong? Or just in a misleading way?)

No, you used it right, haha! I was just saying, I used a slider rather than selecting some preexisting set of possible hues.

I see, thanks again. I was a bit worried.^^" It's a slider as well in Gimp.
