To be honest.With the changes of BOG and FNF. I think I will have to dismiss SSJ's existence due to Goku being a blue haired SSJSSG now.It contradicts all of GT.

You could probably make it so Goku just completely absorbs the divine ki and converts it to normal ki. Would explain how Goku's base state could have gotten as strong as it was in GT, maybe make it so SSGSS lives on in the Super Hitozaru states or something.

Yeah I think it's a broad opinion that SSJ4 is totally different.From what I know,It was actually supposed to be a different transformation but due to time restrictions the writers of GT just left it how it was.

Hitozaru is another name for SSJ4, turns it into a separate transformation than super saiyan,which enables the user to go super saiyan in this form.

Whait, how are Super hitozaru achieved? Seems unlikely that Goku can transform into Super Saiyan when a Super Saiyan 4 is the fusion of Ozaru and SS1

super saiyan 4 is not a fusion of Oozaru and SSJ1. Thats Super Oozaru.super saiyan 4 is not a fusion of anything its supposed to be super saiyan 4.its open to opinion what the transformation is,whether its just ssj4 or a higher oozaru state.I make it a new state where the saiyan can use his own wits in oozarus body therefore transforming into a man-monkey.which is exactly how its portrayed in GT.

It's for my fanimation,Goku finds out that SSJ 4 is actually a different base form rather than a higher SSJ,which makes sense considering SSJ4 has nothing to do with the other transformations in appearance,plus he had to change to Oozaru to gain the transformation

Other people have the same opinion I think,from what I have heard,its what they originally wanted to do with SSJ4 but couldnt really fit it into the storyline of GT so it was an easier route calling it SSJ4.Its just strange that you need a tail to transform.From what I think,its when a saiyan can take full control of the immense power of Super Oozaru,hence, be able to translate all that power to a humanoid form (SSJ4)

I'm not a big fan of GT anyway, but I would've really loved it if it was like that.It makes so much more sense than just the forth gen of a supersayian.If they had to choose it that way, why didn't they simply make yellow (gold) ssj4.That would make even more sense since you need to transform into golden Oozaru first and then to a human (sayian)
