Thanks - Yes, I think that I put too high a gloss finish on it - I may dull it down to look more like the wip. Barrie

Oh I like this one Bripin.
Its almost macabre. I can imagine the character turning round and being...I dunno... not what I expected to see,if that makes sense?

Thank you Mark. I'm kind of smiling now with your macabre impression, because you have some pieces in your gallery that I definitely think would fit that bill. I'm glad you like the piece, come again. Barrie

This is really beautiful! Great idea to have her come out of the wall. There's something ghostlike about it and I find that interesting considering the heaviness of the material

huhuu Barrie= )
well everything was said...it is a beautiful piece of artwork. i like the way the model appears and especially i love the usement of the wood in the background. terra cotta is nature and in combination with the wood it gives a perfect looking.
i really like your terra cotta art

This is so incredible. Extremely realistic, the model looks like he's going to climb right out of the clay. The depth you created too is very amazing. So smooth, it really looks like I'm looking at someones backside. Beautiful.

Hello Barrie,

What a wonderful piece. Since you are looking for feedback or this is what i gather from other posts and your responses, the spine seems a little too centered on the back. Since there is a perspective, the spine, too me, wouldn't be so clearly halfway but would be further from the surface as the body recedes.
I understand that you were inspired from a photo and of course it limits what information we can obtain. I will enjoy very much seeing a pice done from the model as i think you will really knock our sox off.

warm regards,

Circe

BRipin In reply to Circe1 [2010-02-20 16:35:33 +0000 UTC]

You are quite right JoΓ«lle, you put your finger on what has been bothering me about this piece, the lower portion of the spine line should be canted more to the left and is way too prominent for this subtly shaped back. I can't blame the photo for that, but because of great constructive observations like yours and a few others, I think the next version should be more pleasing. Thank you for taking the time to write.
