AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.I know a lot of you will probably hate me because it's not my usual animu artz... Please just ignore this instead of posting WTFISTHIS comments, kthx. :]
I really really enjoyed doing this random underwater speed-painting.. ;u;
Oh man it felt sooo good just to paint instead of working within lines all the time.
I want to get better at creating fantasy backgrounds and environments. If any of you have any advice I'd love to hear it!
Bearing in mind I completely made up everything here so it's not scientifically correct or anything lmao~
And I still think fishie needs a longer tail... :0

I can't think of anything to say that nonsenser didn't already (and in a much better way than I could say it!) This piece is absolutely gorgeous and I love the palette. The submarine (?) headlamps light up everything perfectly and that fish is awesome. <3

I'm sorry I didn't comment on this earlier, I genuinely am, because it's absolutely breathtaking. *v*
First off- your palette is just gorge. Seriously, all those fab colours coming together without becoming an eyesore or garish, it's sublime. Those delicate little changes in tone, the highlights... and you know, for having made this all up madame, it's got just the right amount of eccentricity and weirdness to look completely natural. and isn't nature just amazing? weirder than fiction, srsly.
And the contrast between every little object, the rocks, the straggly seaweed, the awesome bioluminescent mushrooms! (uff I wish I knew what those actually were...) you've strung up this great, delicate balance between every piece of eyecandy. <3
I just wish I could get even closer to the deets... I can't give you much advice on painting environments since I suck hard at those, but I do know one thing... WORK REALLY BIG!! <333
Fishie is amazing too, you really got that delicacy and semi-translucency that makes deep sea fishies so fascinating! And the two 'eyes' glowing there are just intriguing. I love how they light up all the specks like that! It's a fab way of filling up that negative space there (though I think maybe it's still too dominant here, though I know this was a speedy painting, but for future reference? :'D)
Also, I dunno if this is just my dirty screen, but there seems to be some kind of grain over the picture? Which if intentional is a very noice touch!
But what I love the best is how you've pushed and pulled the focal points, really letting us get immersed in this total eerie, serene (and yet maybe a little ominous!) environment. And getting us immersed is really what it's all about eh? :'D

Eeee! Yus! It was fun trying to get a balance between the softness that reflected the overall mood and the sharp focus points of the light hitting different things. *doesn't know the technical term for it, lmao* (and I have no idea what those mushroom/coral actually are either, no worries) ;D

Urm...advice...advice...Maybe make the two light sources in the top right shine down more from above? I suppose otherwise it might look like a car fell in there. But I could just be confused on the angles (shrug). Oh but I like it in the background there the way it is O.o Okay I'm just confusing myself~ ^_^ Good job anyway, it's pretty.

I saw this and I was like "Is that a.... FISHY!!!?" X3 This is very cool, and I love the fishy. Took me a moment to realise that those were submarine lights in the back. Please don't hurt the fishy nice submarine people Very cool and yes different from what you've been doing but still very cool and a nice change of pace!
