I hate hospitals.

No.

I LOATH them.

So why am I here you may be asking yourself.

"Hey reb, bring back some chips."

Alfred yells from the living room to where I am standing in the kitchen. Or more specifically, in front of the cabinets where the chips are stored. Seriously, he has an entire cabinet devoted soley to the compaines of Lay's and Dorito's. I swear I've never seen so many in one place outside the supermarket.

"What kind?" I ask back, unsure of which kind he was referring to. I scan the shelves in awe. Sour cream and onion Lay's, Dorito's Jacked, Spicy Nacho, Sour cream and cheeder, the list was endless.

"...Ohhh, I know. Cool ranch!" He momentarily morphs into little kid mode and I grab the bag of chips, but not before finding an already open bag of barbeque flavored chips. I close the cabinet doors before the rest of the collection could tumble out and return to the living room with both bags in hand.

I throw Alfred's choice at him lightly and he snatches it with one hand before tearing into it happily. I plop back into the spot I was in before and dig into the bag I picked. I munch the chips blissfully, it had been a while since the last time I had had barbeque anything.

"...Uhh Robert..? Are those barbeque?" I barely hear my cousin over the sound of noisy potato munching.

"What's it to ya, yank?" I retort, not wanting to be disturbed. These chips reminded me so much of Orleans that I was actually getting a little homesick.

"Umm, nothing. I just didn't want you to freak out..." I don't have to look at him to hear the guilt in his tone. I groan to myself and raise my eyes to his.

"Spill it, North. What would I freak out about?"

"It's just that those chips you have.....ummm....did..you check the expiration date?"

I feel my eyes go wide. Did I? I glance to those little numbers printed on the side of the bag and nearly have a heart attack. This already open bag of chips was four months over the date

So if you haven't guessed by now, it should be obvious.

But I'll tell you anyway. That damn yank took it to himself to educate me in the many ways that cool ranch potato chips are soooo much better than barbeque chips. And that is why I am now sitting the waiting room of a headache box with a cast on my arm waiting for my dumbass to wheel himself out of his room.

You heard me right, I said wheel. As in I broke his fucking leg after he broke my arm. Serves him right, god damn yankee deserved it.How dare he tell to how to live my life, again.

-The doors to the room fly open as a swarm of nurses descend on a stretcher. Said rolling bed is propelled into a pair of doors that clearly says "restricted access" and yet one boy about my age tries his hardest to break that rule.

"I'm sorry, son, you will have to wait with the others." A nurse tries to comfort him. He nods sadLy and turns from her with a sob that I am close enough to hear. He sits next to me and I finally recognize him-

The nurse had pointed me to the seats of the waiting room and I sit next to one that was already occupied. I can feel eyes on me but I ignore them, my thoughts only on the the hope that _____ will survive. I mean she always has, she has put up with too much to go out in such a fashion.

--The last moments of conversation flash through my head. She had told me that she did it for me, she told me not to be sad. I gasp as my emotions take over again, barely holding back tears. Dios, yo no merezco a amarla. tan valiente, tan bella(<- again, its bay-uh,not bella), pero tan triste .....

"Antonio?"

I jump at the sudden voice next to me. I look up and recognize the boy I was sitting next this entire time. "Oye, Roberto. Qué estás haciendo aquí, chico?" I ask, using the question as a distraction.

"Umm, yo y mi hermano... llegamos en una ...pelea."

"Habla usted?" I felt my jaw drop.

Roberto tilts his head a few times like he isn't sure before saying: "I was coached..?" Then flinches at nothing. "Fine fine, yeesh. Hey Carriedo, can you get your brother to stop throwing tomatoes at me?"

I felt my jaw drop further. He knew too?

"Carriedo?" A doctor appears out of nowhere with a clip board and an unreadable poker face. Slowly I stand on my feet and approach him.

"Sí?"

"You came in with the girl with the knife wound, right?"

"Yes."

"Well, I have good news. She will live, but she has lost a lot blood. We have her stitched up and sedated in a room. You can go back and visit if you want to, but first I would suggest you find a cleaner shirt." He motions to the blood still splattered on my shirt. "She is in room 215 of this level, just down that hall. If you need anymore help, ask a nurse."

He walked away and I have to hide the urge to skip after him and tackle hug him. I'm so happy that I almost ran down to her room the moment he told me where it was. Mi chiquita, she lives still. The smile on my face must be so bright right now.

Dammit fratello! Stop fucking blinding us and lets go already.The boy's spirit yells at Antonio.

"I agree, little guy." I say to him while shielding my eyes.
