Nice photo. I know this ship, as well as about the Big Fitz. Even though I was born in 1990, My favorite freighter is the Edmund Fitzgerald. A couple years ago, I was taking a trip up to Mackinac City. My mom, her friends, and I decided to take a ferry tour of the Mackinac Bridge. In the distance, on our port, we saw a freighter. It was too far away to see it's name. Then ,the ferry's captain spoke. He went on with the boring welcome. what he said next shocked me. "We don't usually start taking until we are under the bridge, but I see all of you are looking at that freighter. It is the Arthur M. Anderson".

Great photo.

Lake boats sure are stylish, and the AA looks great in the GLF livery.

The Anderson! I'm reading a book about the Fitzgerald right now and it explained all about how the Anderson was attempting to guide the Fitz into Whitefish since it lost it's radar and how it went searching for afterwards. I'm gonna have to look for it next time I go home from school in Duluth to southern MN.

Very cool!! The exposure/composition is exellent...and the story behind it grabbed my attention...though I was a kid in the 70's...I never followed up on the history behind the song...thanks!!!
