"Metal Sonic, having taken the power of the Phantom Ruby for himself, has once again transformed his own body. Now he soars the skies, determined to keep his new power this time..."
He asked for me to work on a slight update to a slightly new design for Metal Sonic. In all of his dragon inspired, Metal Overlord glory of course. Cool white Neo-Metal Sonic markings? Check. Fierce looking maw with Dragonic qualities? You know it. Translucent wings? Can’t miss out on those. What DOESN’T this guy have lol.
Tin Grin was a lot to handle back in Sonic Heroes. It’s going to take a heck of a lot to bring him down now that he’s got his hands on the Phantom Ruby. I wonder if Sonic, Tails and Knuckles joining “Forces” again will be enough…
Okay, silliness aside, thanks a bunch to GJTProductions for the commission work. I love my boy Metal, so anytime I can get paid to draw him is a win in my book.

This is one foe that not even Nettlebrand nor TFP Predaking would NEVER hunt down.
The former was created to hunt dragons and the latter for hunting Autobots.

For those curious about the rest of the wings (unlike the tail, there was no good way to fix the cropping without redoing the whole picture and losing details :/) you can look at the original version of the design here -> Commission-Metal Overlord
Going to throw a (probably) AU tag on this, with the following explanation (FORCES SPOILERS AHOY!):
During the experimentation Dr. Eggman conducted on the original Phantom Ruby (that lead to the prototype Infinite used), Metal Sonic asked to use one of the prototypes as a new power source. Eggman, remembering the previous rebellion Metal conducted, refused the request and ultimately promoted Infinite to his second-in-command over Metal. Metal resented this, but did not act until the two versions of Sonic appeared and the Avatar joined them in attacking Eggman's forces. While Eggman himself was distracted, Metal secretly stole the original Ruby but did not reveal this until after Infinite's defeat, Metal utilizing the Ruby as a power source and a damaged Death Egg robot as the raw material for the transformation. At this point, Metal is rogue and could only be stopped by using the imitation prototypes to fight him.

You sure gave him a lot of draconic features, reminding me of those classic Yu-gi-oh dragons: Red-Eyes Black Dragon and/or Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

I miss those old shows...
But yeah, I did play up the dragon theme a bit more. Mainly because thats what I was asked to do, and because I am comfortable drawing stuff like that. Dragons are cool.
