Time to finally make good on the Coming Soon I Posted a while back so here is the first one I finished, the original purple big man of the Sonic the Hedgehog Series and a core member of the Freedom Fighters, Rotor Walrus.

This whole pic is a window into Boomer’s new role that Archie has given the Walrus in the Comic Series. He may not be an active Freedom Fighter anymore, but he is always ready for the next challenge or issue.

I love the new depth Archie has given their series as of late. Rotor may not be a “main attraction” but he shows how there are others outside of Sonic and Tails who are willing to pick up the torch and fight for what they believe in. It adds so much to the lure of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

In regards to this particular pic, I like a lot of the things I’ve done here. Boomer is obviously not of average mobian build so it presents challenges that you don’t get when you draw Shadow or Knuckles. I fell in love with the pose; it is one of my favorite ones in the Anny Series so far. It displays depth and good tactile interaction with his trademark belt, something that is not easy to draw properly.

I hope you guys like Rotor, he is the first of several Freedom Fighters that will grace my Sonic 20th Anniversary Series.

This project was started on the 20th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, June 23, 2011. It will encompass numerous characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog video games, comic books and TV shows.
