I love Amargasaurus, it's one of my many favourites! I hope you find time to draw more sauropods, too. I know they're not as fashionable as the carnivores, but I love them...

Hehehe, there will be more, not for now, but I'll try to draw more in the future.

Another pencil masterpiece! I always enjoy your paleoart. I think I have to take few lesson from you to improve my pencil tehnique.

If I should critique something that would be the background, not because it looks bad but because it's so similar to the background seen in other artworks of yours. Anyway, I don't think it's a big deal. I have the same problem after all.

BrokenMachine86 In reply to T-PEKC [2009-07-19 02:38:23 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot!

About the background, you're right. For a moment I wasn't going to make it a background, but once I finished the amargasaurus I thought the drawing looked empty, so I did a simple background with little imagination, hehe. I use to focus in the figure, no so much in backgrounds, but someday I would like to make one more elaborated.

For me , focusing on the animal is most important, especially when it's portraited in side view. That's the best way to show its anatomy and proportions. That's why I said the background is not such a big deal. Anyway, if sometimes you try to make more complex artwork you will need something more creative.

But to be honest I wouldn't complain if you keep your future works in that way. They're awesome!

The rendering is wonderful, with beautiful lighting. The background of trees puts the animal nicely into its environment without pulling the eye away.

It is just now that I realise that Amargasaurus had rather a short neck, I suppose it would have to be with all that extra bone and skin making up the spines and crests.

BrokenMachine86 In reply to commander-salamander [2009-07-16 14:25:07 +0000 UTC]

I think that the spines and sail make it's neck look even shorter, but that all dicraeosaurids had short necks in comparison with other sauropods.

Thanks for your comment
