Actually Inuyasha is a hanyo, or human yokai hybrid. In Japanese mythology Yokai are much more like the fair or sidhe than they're like western demons. Now Hellboy, there's a proper half demon or cambion.

Now all we need is take a story like Inuyasha, make him a full demon, then add several gallons of sparkling pretty boy, market it to teenage girl in the United States, and people will embrace the classic idea of demon being fallen divine messengers who whisper to humans to take the easy way out.
