I basically just really like the subtle texture in the wood, when you get up close you can see all the grain and slight imperfections of the wood, and I think it really adds to it. I also like that I can draw on it or use mixed media if I wish, even though most of my work is just paint, and it can't get dinted or have holes put through it (which I've had happen to one of my paintings on canvas)

aw thank you very much. I've really enjoyed working with the shadows, I've found it extremely challenging but rewarding, I recommend it to anyone learning to paint, as it really pushes you to see the different colours and to learn to mix a lot of variations of skin tone
