I'm re-reading the series, currently on book 10. As for The End, well...let's say the ending in my opinion was up to interpretation (though if you want to know what happened afterwards, you might want to read a few fan fictions (example: Yet Another Series of Unfortunate Events), even if ideas may vary). As for work by Lemony Snicket himself...well...I might recommend All the Wrong Questions, a prequel about Lemony at a city called Stain'd-by-the-Sea, doing some investigation stuff for V.F.D. that came out 2012-2015.
