"SAFE PASSAGE" So, I recently moved to Tiburon, CA. right on the bay on the ocean. We have been in our newly purchased 1914 home for around five months now. I have a detached sculpting studio, with bay views from the backyard! I have even seen spouting and back curls from my studio as I am sculpting! For about two weeks we have been seeing gray whales migrating, literally past our windows at the front of our home. Last week a dead gray whale about 25 feet long floated past in front of us. It was then I became inspired to start a mother gray whale with calf to come. (I sculpted a small gray whale sculpture years ago.) I am titling this 45" one 'Safe Passage'. Although - this one's death was undetermined by me. Many are killed due to boat/ships. As well, many are starving. I suspect for many or most, it was due to habitat loss, pollution and of course global warming.
