Description Just like in the fairy tale, Isunboshi is traveling down the river in a rice bowl boat with a chopstick for an oar

***
Issunboshi, or an Inch-High-Samurai is a character from Japanese fairy tale of the same name.
My Issunboshiis about 7,5" (nearly 20 cm) high, which is bit bigger than an Issun (Issun it's a measure of approximately 3 centimeters). But I didn't think of fairy tales when I started to sew, I just wanted a to make a feltie doll that could be dressed in a different outfits (and so I did). Then a terrible thing happened: my cat had stolen the doll while the paint on it's face was drying, and played with it for a several minutes before was discovered. Miraculously, the feltie survived. So I decided to call him Issunboshi (who was nearly eaten by an Oni )

Thank you!

I love all sorts of fairy- and folk- tales when I was a kid. I remember English, Russian, and French fairy tales about a miniature boy, but I discovered Issunboshi story only when I started to read fairy tales to my own kid

The pleasure is mine!
I see. I remember that Issunboshi wore a sewing needle instead of katana

hehe, you are right, a sewing needle sword. I should give one to mu Issunboshi before he'll make his journey to my friend's house (it'll be a gift)

Damm, I knew that I've missed something... happy delayed birthday! A gift? Hmmm... how about the perfect wapanese model? Meet Roi Bukkake: [link]
Google his pics, he did actually look like Japanese when he was young... :-D

Thank you!

Heh, this guy would be older than my dad... For some reason he doesn't look anything like Japanese to me - no more than Sean Connery as "Japanese" Bond in "You Only Live Twice", anyways
