Description

well these are my hetalia figures I just got and I decided to take a picture of them (on my crappy camera sorry). the ones on the left are bootleg and the ones on the right are the official released figures by Kotobukiya (if that is wrong please don't sue me I get my information from the internet). I love both sets so please don't hate on them as they were gifts for my birthday!

The differences between them are:

Bootlegs have a much larger base and the figures are secured into them through a bent pole that basically gets shoved into the characters butt (ouch...) and is then shoved into the base to keep them standing. whereas the official figures have a long magnetic pole in the back and because the characters have a magnet in there heads they are able to stand.

As much as I love my bootleg figures you can see the difference in the quality of the figures when they are next to the official figures. a few examples would be Germanys looks like he wanted to try out a pink hair wash (maybe he was consulting with Poland..), Americas burger has two buns and then just the beef (whereas the official figure has lettuce in it as well) and England's tea cup is devoid of the actual tea. This is just to name a few differences as many of there hair colours are off and a lot of things attached to the figures aren't quite right.

Another thing with the bootleg figures is that Romano and Germany's body's are switched, this is not usually a problem as you can just switch the heads around. unfortunately for me the little object which keeps there heads to there body's is stuck in both Romano and Germany. the object is stuck in the socket of Romanos head and I cant get it out and the one that keeps Germanys head to his body is stuck in Germanys body so I cant switch the heads. so i'm stuck with a couple of Germano love children but quite honestly it greatly amuses me so I don't really mind. XD

The thing with the bootleg figures is that they are incredibly cheep so you don't break the bank when buying them (they were roughly about £10 which is really good considering the number of figures you get) also the base of the figures are quite large which means you fill your shelf better. the official figures cost me £108 (ooouuuuccchhhh!!!) and the bases are really small so it can sometimes make the figures look small (they look big in my picture above because I took a picture of them closer by accident DX ) but they honestly are such good quality I don't mind paying that much.

I am also waiting on the second set of figures (which consists of Sweden, Finland, Prussia, Canada, Spain, Greece, Austria, Hungary, Holy Roman Empire and Chibi Italy) and I shall upload a picture of them. as well as these figures I am collecting the special versions of set ones figures which were produced for the Animate Café in japan, I am desperately trying to track down a Russia from that set as he is the only one I can not seem to find (he has sunflowers instead of his pipe), if any of you lovely people know where to find him I would love you forever <3

I was actually looking around to make sure I was right on two little figures being bootlegs (I love trying to tell if one is or not). I work at a school and one of the small media rooms has star wars fanatics running the room. The guys daughter likes anime and stuff like I do, yet I was surprised to find a Germany and America figurine sitting on the shelf. I looked close at it and thought...that has to be a bootleg, those things are too expensive for a student without a job to get. You can never be sure so I looked real quick and behold...I was right. They have that sad up the butt stands lol. Well, I'm sure she just got them because of the characters and is not into figures so she does not know about bootlegging or legit ones, no matter how smart she is. Glad you love your figures equally though, sense you have them they also need love (:
Btw, I laughed so hard when you mentioned the Germany and Romano body swap, I wondered why the Germany figure in the media room had a tomato ROFL.

The colours aren't very good on the bootlegs, are they? But £108?!?!?!?!?! Did you get these off Amazon or is there an actual magical shop which sells Hetalia suff????

Pfft, and the quality between the bootlegs and the official figures even reflect in the photo quality! XD

I got them from a really trustworthy seller on Ebay and I know £108 is a lot of money DX but I also just paid £105 for the compleat second set so I am the definition of broke XD

I know that really made me chuckle XD even my camera gave more love to the official figures

You just can't beat Japanese made stuff! *shakes head* I bet the bootlegs were made in China. (OK, that sounds kinda racist, but IT'S ALRIGHT! I'M CHINESE! XD)

SAAAAAME! *high fives* Now I just sorta wander around the internet freaking out over anybody who's not Chinese/English/American. Yes, I've been keeping track of stuff! :3 There's a lovely person who's offered to help with my Japanese, a really nice German student, several Canadians and I've just bumped into a French person. LOL (My only worry is that people will get annoyed with me pestering them with questions like: 'OMG! WHAT'S FRANCE/JAPAN/GERMANY/CANADA LIKE????' 'Can you help me with my French/German/Japanese???' 'TELL ME EVERYTHING YOU KNOW ABOUT YOUR COUNTRY!!!!!!!' and stuff.) But so far everyone's been very patient and I've gone on a kind of mini culture exchange with everyone I bump into on the net. :3 It's really very interesting.

Which means yeaaaah! Feel free to bug me about anything! I like chatting. XD

*high fives back* oh my god I'm so glad it's not just me who does that XD I also pretty much freak out whenever I find someone from another culture as I just can't help but want to ask them loads of questions. I try to keep it under control because like you said I don't want to pester anyone XD wow you're trying to learn to speak Japanese? That's really cool! I mush I could learn how to speak Japanese! I am a part of an RP group on face book and I constantly worry that I am annoying them with all the questions I ask them about where they are from XD

Really? :3 thank you

XD I know... I love talking to different people... (It gives me the illusion that one day I'll be able to get out of England and China and go somewhere else... *sob*) Hey, but with me, you don't have to worry, because we are the same! XD I know you really don't mean any harm and personally it makes me quite happy to talk about my culture to someone who's actually interested. My German friend has even offered, without me even asking, to tell me about Christmas in Germany. So, yeah! That's another lesson I'm looking forward to! XD

Yep... I'm attempting Japanese. I sorta know a little already because knowing Chinese really helps with Japanese and figuring out what the sentence might be saying. Still, it's difficult, but I hope to meet some Japanese people some day... You won't annoy me, worry not! So ask away should you ever feel the need to! (Also, you must be from the UK, right? Because you use pounds and everything... That also makes me quite happy! Nothing against Americans or anything, I love those people, but it feels good to be able to turn all... British. *raises cup of tea* Let us make a toast to the Queen!)
