Some Background:
Magi wasn't always a goofball, Magi had a lot of time to practice magic back in time when she lived with her old family in Europe. when she excitingly performed her first spell, most people assumed it was dark magic and were afraid, in which they immediately shun her and called her a witch. Even her parents thought she was cursed so they demanded that she never cast another spell again. She however, believed that magic made her who she is and decided to practice in secrecy. as time went on, she reached a certain breaking point and decided to run away. She did so with the new spell she learned that could teleport her to any place on Earth. though because she was't fully capable of using this spell, it sent her to a random destination and time. Then, of course we know found the Neu family. Although there is way much more to her story. this quickly sums it up.

She unintentionally traveled from the past to the future, which of course, left her puzzled and lost in the "new era" of society.
