"Hideous monster!" shouted the stalwart astronaut. "You shall not pass!"

"Hideous monster, me? Speak for yourself. Now, thank you, my good man, for detaining the Princess for me. Now, come along young lady, running away won't change a thing it's bath night." replied the Royal Bathier.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" screamed the princess.

I've always loved the '50s sci fi posters for no other reason than the monsters were just pure cheese. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Great piece of work, man! Everything about it screams "retro"... but I noticed that the gun the hero has seems more closely modeled on existing handguns than the ray guns of yore. Not a criticism, just a nice personal spin on a classic theme.

reminds me off the the old comics or movies you use to see a while back ,with the brave hero , hot damsel in distress , and the not so scary alien monster.... man i love it.....

There's a certain Daddy Roth quality to this particular creature.

You know what suck worse than having to fight a giant, slime space-ghoul? That the hot chick you just rescued apparently breathes a completely different atmosphere.

Oh yeah, damn, you're right. I didn't mean to play such a cruel trick on my astronaut guy but I guess I did!! Haha.

The-Enforcer-Saga [2007-06-23 11:41:44 +0000 UTC]

Kind of reminds me of this really old, really cheesy flick called, "Angry Red Planet"...

LadyKayoss [2005-11-28 15:04:10 +0000 UTC]

This has a very retro feel to it, with the slimy monster and woman in a skimpy outfit. It makes me want to stick in a cheesy old sci-fi flick...

Another great piece. It reminds me of 'John Carter of Mars'. The blue-skinned, antennaed girl is great, as is the green brain monster.

Thanks! I love the John Carter stories. The hero in this one (and the alien for that matter) was more inspired by the great 1950's sci-fi comic book artist Wallace "Wally" Wood, however. This is my homage to him.

KurtBelcher1 In reply to BryanBaugh [2005-11-12 22:20:43 +0000 UTC]

Yep, I can definitely see Wood's influence in this piece and in your art in general. Good influence to have.
