Biography: Maala was born in Dawnfield, a port town in the realm of Somniorbis, the native name of what most other beings know as the Dream World. While she lived a mostly peaceful life, interacting with her friends and the human souls that made temporary visits to Somniorbis, she was constantly warned about the various dangers of their world; the foremost threat being the Nightmare Somnians, the monstrous and corrupted inhabitants of Somniorbis. However, rather than fear these these threats, Maala’s confidence emboldened her and she sought to fight back against them, battling hordes of imaginary monsters throughout her childhood.

One day, when Maala was 11, Dawnfield was attacked by a group of Nightmare Somnians, taking all of the previously peaceful town by surprise. By the time the police force had arrived to combat them, the invaders had already spread throughout the town, destroying and attacking everything and everyone in their path. The police force were able to subdue most of the attackers, but were quickly overpowered.

Maala was walking through the town with her friends when the attack started, but were able to find somewhere to hide. However, one of Maala’s friends was slower and stumbled on the ground moments before she was noticed by one of the Nightmare Somnians. As the corrupted Somnian towards the girl, Maala impulsively ran to save her, despite  the growing fear in her stomach. After she dove down to shield her friend from the attack, a glaive shot past them and into the Nightmare Somnian’s chest. As the girls looked behind them, a young woman in exotic pink armor ran past them, telling them to get to safety before picking up her glaive and running to battle the rest of Dawnfield’s attackers. Maala regrouped with her friends and hid until the group was found by the police force after the attack was over.

After the attackers in Dawnfield were fought off and things began to return to order, the armored girl hurriedly left the scene of the battle, eventually passing by the children. Awestruck by the brave warrior, Maala impulsively began to run after her, pursuing her until her legs nearly gave out. Reluctantly, the girl walked back to Maala, asking why the child insisted on following her. Maala told her how she detested living in fear, and that she looked up to the stranger for her bravery and willingness to fight. Noting Maala’s bravery to shield her friend from the Nightmare Somnians’ attack, as well as her persistence in pursuing her, the warrior removed her helmet and knelt down to her.

She revealed her name to be Ziljana, and that she was a member of the Guardsmen, an order of warriors and guardians made from bravest beings from every realm. Although she was from outside Somniorbis, she learned of the attack on Dawnfield in her search of threats to deal with. Emboldened, Maala told her about the Nightmare Somnians and her desire to fight them, leading Ziljana to consider recruiting her for the Guardsmen. She advised Maala to learn how to fight in the meantime before finally departing, leaving her a small glowing stone which Ziljana stated would help her find Maala when the time came.

Shortly after, Maala sought out training any way she could, mainly through books and sparring with her less-than-eager friends and siblings. However, it wasn’t long before her parents learned about the path their daughter sought to follow, and immediately opposed it. It would take 2 years before they would even sit down and discuss the matter. Nonetheless, Maala won out through her persistence and desire to be able to defend herself and others, should an attack like the incident in Dawnfield happen again. Finally, 4 months after Maala turned 13, Ziljana returned and met with Maala and her family. Impressed with Maala’s commitment, the Guardswoman approached the Desomnis with the offer to officially mentor their daughter as one of her order’s warriors. As nervous as they were with the proposition, through Maala’s resolution, they eventually accepted; though they followed by begging Ziljana to look after her, to which Ziljana readily obliged.

That day, Maala was the first Somnian to become a member of the Guardsmen.

Soon after being accepted into the Guardsmen, Maala formed a close bond with Ziljana under her tutelage, and quickly made friendships with fellow Guardsmen from numerous other realms. As time went on, she became an even more capable fighter, going from fighting humanoids to enormous beasts. After nearly a year, Maala was able to return to Somniorbis to act as their official Guardswoman, her childhood dream of fighting the threats of her home having finally become a reality.

Two years later, the Guardsmen came into contact with the Guardians of Freedom, and the two groups soon established a partnership. It was at this point that, through their combined efforts, Maala and the other Guardsmen were able to fully travel to the realm of the humans. She would proceed to make more friendships among the Guardians after the partnership was formed.

Maala currently still works as a Guardswoman, in addition to taking some missions from Guardians on the side.

Personality: Maala is a cheerful, confident, bubbly—albeit a mature, disciplined, and strong-willed girl. While she approaches most situations with a large measure of enthusiasm and is amicable and engaging to others, it often leads to unconscious concern among her peers as to how suited she is for her profession. Despite this, however, she is able to turn her focus to reality and be serious and logical when the situation requires it.

Another of her most prominent traits is her idealism, but despite the well-meaning nature of this, it tends to prevent her from making hard decisions. Thus, she is susceptible to the pressure of dire situations and thus hesitates to take higher roles of leadership.

An additional cornerstone of her personality is her caring for others. Her desire to protect others from harm was the reason she set out to become a Guardswoman. She is also loyal to her friends, from shielding others from an attack to staying by a friend’s side despite the troubles they may endure. Her compassion for others leads many to place a great deal of trust in her. However, this does come with a habit of trying to shoulder the burdens of others, but the support that she gives to her friends often keeps this from going to far.

Ultimately, despite her high energy, her overly-sympathetic nature, and sometimes being out of her depth, she is a dedicated and loyal friend who shows strength in more ways than one, and is someone that people can always count on when in need.

  • Wire Daggers: Maala also possesses a pair of daggers containing a reel of an approximate 200 feet of rope within the hilt, which can be reeled back in via a powerful spring-activated mechanism. She can use this reel to use as a garrote-like weapon or throw the daggers like grappling hooks.

Between the durability of the metal and the additional enchantments, the armor is durable enough to be able to withstand any mundane weapons as well as many magic-based weapons.

(UPDATE: 1/26/20 - Added the bio.)

(UPDATE: 5/7/20 - Added the freckles she was supposed to have.)

She's finally finished! XD

So I've actually had this character in mind for a long time, but I never could get around to uploading her until now. I'm planning on making a bio soon, and I'll update this when I do.

But for now, enjoy my newest (old) character, and watch out for her in the future, because I plan on making her a very major character in the Guardianverse.

So let me know what you all think of her in the comments, and since this is uploaded on the 31st of December, I would like to wish a very happy new year to all of you.

See you later.
