If there's something more awesome than Pitch, it's Pitch with long hair!

What character did you cosplay as when you cut your hair?

OH MY GOSH.Β
I have seen your pictures before! I had a huge JTHM addiction and was searching cosplays everywhere.
Your cosplay was my favorite and I actually tried drawing a picture of you like three years ago, but failed miserably.Β
You are really pretty.Β

WHAT? Really? 0_o Err... thank youΒ Β
Well there are actual guys cosplaying Nny, like this one . We don't get these tall boots easily in Russia, so it was kinda difficult to conjure up a decent Nny costume. I never EVER learned to do a proper work with make-up too, being one weird tomboy who doesn't even use an eyeliner (why would I need it under my glasses anyway).
I must've been good with emotions tho. It's not unfamiliar for me to feel fucking murderous, and I've put these feelings into cosplay. I think it's more important to find the right character to cosplay than to make elaborate costumes (though I may be confusing "cosplay" with "roleplay", but hey, I'm perfectionist). This thought may disappoint people who don't have the necessary body type (most characters are either buff or skinny these days, and every one of them seems to be tall), but I'm glad to see chubby girls cosplaying Sandman, because it shows that there ARE characters for them to cosplay. We need more characters in the media that have non-model body types, and maybe gradually it could help the society to get rid of body issues.

You're welcome.
Well, I thought you an AWESOME job with that cosplay, because you seemed like the embodiment of the character. I've personally always wanted to do a cosplay of Nny, but I couldn't imagine myself with shaved sides of my hair.Β
Yeah, I get the perfectionist thing, I get so focused on the details, it takes me forever to complete a costume, so I just stick with doing character makeup and hair.
I definitely think that people should cosplay characters despite their body types. I've got a slightly chubby build, so I could never be one of those skinny anime characters, or be a convincing dude, but everyone needs to try. They may not look exactly like the character, but with good makeup, accurate cosplay, and attention to details, it can turn out really good.Β
It does seem that society wants extreme body types. They are usually stick-thin or really good looking. I also hate how they always seem to portray chubby people as comic relief in everything. Apparently fat = funny. Honestly though, everyone has one thing they don't like about their body. They just need to appreciate the parts of them that are beautiful to them.

Don't say "just" about matters that involve serious psychological problems, like in the last sentence. I've read in an article that it sounds like understating people's efforts to fight their problems. Body issues can be so deep that I, for one, can't say for sure if I don't like roundish faces because I don't like mine, or vice versa - that's a bit like the "chicken-and-egg problem". For a perfectionist even a minor flaw can spoil the whole picture. Some people (me included) don't like themselves because of how people treated them when they were kids or because their parents didn't love them much. Being an artist (or playing games, watching anime or wherever you see a lot of perfect bodies all the time) also aggravates one's body issues, making them aware of their imperfections even more acutely. That may also explain why many gamers are "forever alone", unable to be content with an average girl whose body stands in sharp contrast with all the goddesses in armor bikinis they've seen or played as.
I know one case when people don't pay much attention to one's imperfect body, and that's when the person in question is extremely talented, energetic or otherwise entertaining. A person that provides them a lot of positive emotions. I've known a girl that had to wear corsets because she was quite chubby, but all the boys stared at her because she was just beaming with energy. That can't be said about me: I'm mostly gloomy and tired-looking and don't go out much 'cos I have nothing to do outside my apartment, especially in cold seasons. My personality makes me a good Nny but a lousy friend - he wouldn't be very popular even when he wasn't a maniac. People usually don't harm others unless they're deeply frustrated in life, tormented by loneliness and pain inside. Though we're often drawn to other "broken" people just like us, we can't give each other much comfort. It's mostly understanding and being united against the world, but such companionship can't heal one's mental wounds, can't teach one to love, to forgive and to be caring. That's what the "positive" sort of people are good at (it's usually those who had loving parents) though they're not as resistant to pain and solitude as the "broken" sort is. Obviously a "positive" person is a good supplement for a "broken" type, but in life they tend to avoid each other.
I don't approve of the "comic relief" depiction of chubby people either. It may be a typical "society survival strategy" these people use, though I'm not familiar enough with them to judge. Like I've said about energy: people wouldn't mind your looks if you keep them in a good mood. They start to associate you with the happiness they feel, and voila - you get a lot of friends. The sort of chubby people I'm more familiar with are those who become bosses and professors and generally important people. They're mostly surrounded with colleagues and family rather than friends, but their "survival strategy" is also efficient.
Pardon me for being so verbose and philosophical - it's not often that I have a reason to speak my mind.

Don't worry about it, I like to speak my mind, too.
To be honest, I'd love to reply to that with an equally philosophical message, but I'm not a very good writer. Never have been.Β
I agree with most of what you put, it's a very interesting point of view.Β
I just don't know what to say. ._.Β

Do you know if any of these products have latex in them? I'm allergic to latex and unfortunately a lot of prosthetics only use latex. I've been trying to find alternatives but got little luck.

I'm not sure, but I'd guess it probably has latex in it.
It sticks to your skin like liquid latex, so possibly?
I really wouldn't risk it by guessing, so maybe you can try to make your own.
