4 days ago, we have become struck with grief & sadness having heard the tragic news that we have sadly lost a much beloved singer.Steve Harwell was the lead vocalist for the rock band Smash Mouth since it was formed in 1994 till his retirement in 2021 due to his heart condition, which would tragically take his life 2 years later.
The group was famous for their Grammy-Nominated platinum single, All Star, which appeared in the 2001 film Shrek, alongside their cover of the Monkee's I'm a Believer.
Humor was a driving force behind Smash Mouth's success, & at the forefront was Harwell's playful alt-rock voice & persona. He made a cameo in the 2001 comedy film Rat Race, & had a well-documented friendship with the Food Network chef & host guy Fieri.
RIP Steve Harwell. You are, & will always will be, our All-Star in heaven. We hope that you are no longer in pain from a difficult battle that you had to fight.
