Yes I have been struck with a serious case of Hiddlestonia. It's been ages since I have uploaded something (deviantart does not seem to like loading on our internet...) Standard black Ballpoint pen <3 my first proper ballpoint drawing. Took 5-6 hrs. (no idea really who counts?) A4 paper (really bad thin paper) and a pretty bad low rez reference (won't be doing that again). Wow the mistakes in this....didn't plan it out at the start *regrets* Edited a bit in photoshop to get rid of all the red reflections....(downside of working in ballpoint) was lots of fun tho (in-between boring classes....) Ha! I signed Loki's helmet...Loki is just so awesome....and Tom even more so....

The left hand portion (especially of the helmet) looks almost like a photo!
The only thing is the eyes seem a bit close together.

This was definitely one of my first and I didn't know what I was doing. It was never mean't to turn out like a detailed drawing in the first place, it was completely unplanned. I originally wanted to test just drawing in pen. I don't really think its was the eyes out of place but the cheek size and helmet coming down across the cheek that made it out of scale. Oh well, it was just a bit of fun really.

Sure thing. The most important rule I guess would be to only draw what you see and not what you think you see. Ballpoint is much more difficult than graphite (obviously because what you put down cannot be taken back). Though it is best to not ever think negatively, get yourself in a good mindset, remember that it never looks good at the start. Have confidence, (I found that by trying ballpoint it makes it more challenging, makes you think about every move you make and ultimately made me a LOT more confident in drawing with graphite). Have CONFIDENCE do not think about the mistakes you are making, do not think about how bad you are, think about how you can improve. Pretend you are someone teaching someone else, pretend you are really good at it and eventually you will believe that you are.
Try these websites for tips and study other peoples work, make yourself believe it is possible.

I would look up Charles Laveso on youtube or google to study technique (he is reaaaaaallly good). PRACTICE is all I can really say.

I am usually not too confident...only drawing what I see and not what I think I see will be something I will start to work on now. Seriously though, thank you!
