declared uncivilized
freeway bums
who travel the seven seas
searching desperately
for instant gratification
and always watching a
new overpass in awe
and listening to the sounds intently

I sit with my comrade
reaching to the sky
with wandering eyes
and open ears to the sounds of the Universe
distracted with thoughts of the universe
distracted with premonitions of what is to be
distracted with questions of eachother...

Waving to the dispersing dream of day
and greeting the celestial Gods and Godesses
I remark to my old eternal comrade who sits
day in and day out alone on the hill...
"We need to get closer"

Without needing to reply
My only friend, the tree
reminds me that
we are rooted to the Earth...
