Description It takes a lot of work doing garage kits. It took me 4 hours of work on a single t-rex to get it to look 'started.' The parts are just raw casts, which means they can be dented, they will have a lot of flash and molding pegs, etc. This is a very rough outline, excluding seam filling with epoxy, of what it's like to put together the Horizon T-rex garage kit.

I got one about two months ago and have been working on assembling. I've got the upper jaw and tail assembled to the main body but am having difficulty readjusting the arms and balancing the body with the legs. I know to readjust the arms and legs is to place them in hot boiling water which I've done, but the body still doesn't balance. How did you adjust the back of the ankles and the feet or did you fill the back of the knees after using boiling water? Also how did you readjust the arms after placing them in boiling water?

Howdy!

I actually did not have any luck using boiling water, I ended up using a heat gun. I just recommend doing that in a well ventilated area because plastic vapors are bad lol

So what I did was have a bucket of ice water, use the heat gun to soften the piece, then hold the pose as I dunk it in the ice bucket. Rather chilly for the hands, but it works!

I also had to cut away a lot of the existing shoulder to not give it the airplane arms, I then resculpted the shoulder.

As far as balance it was just a lot of trial and error. I did cut some sections out of the leg to force the feet to line up more properly. I heated the leg with a heat gun, then slicing with a box cutter became very easy. Then, while the leg was still floppy, I glued the parts I cut closed, and then held the final position and dipped it in the ice water. I just use dollar tree super glue and it works just fine, it is not harmed by the water.

In the end I ended up gluing it to the base I created for it, because it is very hard to get it to balance properly.

Good luck!
