Description Top Right:
Front latch. The top loop swings over the loop on the side, leaving an empty space for a lock or for now, a small twig made out of bronze.
Top Left:
Right roots when looking down at the box. The circles are the tops of pins that go into the lid and are epoxied in place.
Bottom Right:
Photo out of direct sunlight of the front and top.
Bottom Left:
Photo of the back and top out of direct sunlight. The color of the wood there is what it looks like when not in direct sunlight. My camera seems selective on when it wants to show the true color of the wood.

yep :] Ancient bronze oxidized so it wasn't so shiny.

looks great , ferric nitrate and copper sulfate are great for browns on bronze , it is always good to lay a dark patina on first like potassium polysulphide and then using wire wool rub it off - all that is left is little bits in the recesses of your work when you patina over this say with ferric it creates depth in your work , subtle but there , it would pick up all your detail in the casting - hope you dont mind my knowledge - I ran a foundry for some years and fell in love with the surface and colours of bronze - Beautiful box you made

I would love to continue to experiment with coloring metal. I think I just used Liver of sulfur for these, and sanded off some parts to shine them up, but I would love to expand on it and play around more. Casting isn't really my favorite thing, because I'm not very good with wax, except in cases like this where it's something more organic than designed by myself. So that too, is something I should experiment more with :]

I love working with organic lines , I am not very good with straight lines and cant measure ( I always seem to get it wrong ) . This may sound weird but if you put your small bronzes in saw dust in a box and pee on them after a few days the most beautiful greens start to appear ( there is quicker ways )Liver of sulphur is potassium polysulphide and is a very good base for all colours in patination . Its fun to play with colour on bronze - here is a few colours I did on copper and bronze [link] ) . Keep playing - a good thing to learn is mould making then you can sculpt from whatever medium you like then mould and get a wax from the mould and cast - keep well

yeah these roots were done in wax and done with lost wax casting. There's a lot of potential with it, I just don't have the talent to make what I see in my head out of wax. it's easier for me to work with sheet metal, it seems.
But that's not to say I don't want to get better.

I also want to forge steel and iron more. It's relaxing to hit it into imperfect shapes.
