Description Mixed Media using Pen, Graphite, Oil Pastel, and Prismacolor.

This is Amon-Re, original picture copyright Age of Mythology.

The actual picture looks better. The graphite's all shiny and some of the color is washed out, since I had to take a photograph and the sun was really bright, shining in through this BIG window in our house. D= But... still, I like it.

God, I love this picture. I mean, in my version the beads are messed-up and... I'm talking about the original. All of these reproductions are of amazing original drawings. I just hope I do them justice. <3

Thanks! Though technically, the design belongs to Ensemble Studios. I just copied it. ^_^

I can't believe this one hasn't been viewed more! Awesome work, I really love it when people make good stuff with mediums like those.. not a chance in hell I'd be able to do something like that..

Great work!!

Thanks so much! The head&neck were really hard though... I finished everything else (pen first, and I knew the rim of the eye was in color), and then I literally stared at the reference pic, trying to decide if it should be in graphite, colored pencil, both at the same time, or segmented. (I'd scanned it onto the computer already, and had a BW and color image that I erased stuff on alternating, trying to figure it out.)

Eventually, I decided to do neck color and head graphite, and end my suffering. After checking my computer-splice image and staring at the drawing alternately about 20 times. 'XD

Nice work on the shading and details.
And the head is very nice.
It must have been great fun doing this with so many media

But his right wrist looks broken

But thanks! It was very fun! ...But it's hard to work with oil pastels. ><; I'm not doing that again for a while. The texture's a beast.

the wrist is the same way it was in the original. XD Take it up with the Age of Mythology artists. This was a reference pic.

Somebody should note them on this one
Either his wrist or his elbow - there's absolutly no way one could do that!

It doesn't change the fact you did hell of a job Congrats! I perfecty know how painful copying can be

I think it's the elbow, personally. When drawing it, I was thinking 'ow! Doesn't that hurt?'

and thank you again and again.

Copying isn't given the credit it's due, all too often. I mean, especially photos. I'm doing some copy-photo paintings for art class now, and things like fabric designs and saddles are KILLER. @.@ Not to mention you can't go with 'this feels right'. You have to identify exactly what each color is, and how much of each, and how to blend... it can be more tedious than originals. A lot more tedious. XD but it's extremely fun.

I'll upload one day my copy of the characters from one of Boris Vallejo's pictures.
I must heve been in a suicidal mood to decide to copy it in colour!

Not only fun it is, but great school too - you can learn a lot trying to have the exact same colour the artist did

yes. I agree. And speaking of suicide...

Alan Lee. @.@ I'm working on a mixed media with his Rivendell. I used my teacher's technique of vertically quartering the image, but from there, I had to go into 1/32NDS of the QUARTERS of the paper! When I finish, I'll upload it. It's just awful. And I started in graphite and prismacolor, and planning to use charcoal, and maybe blend the colored pencil with the charcoal... until I found out that spray fixative causes it to deteriorate! So now, add pastel (not oil, the chalk) to the mix. At least I'm finished with the prismacolor. But I have sooo much left to do. The trees... oh God, the trees....
