Description
I was starting to feel disappointed with my first version of this here: Lionblaze (old version)I was really proud of the old version at the time because it was the first thing I had ever colored on the computer (granted, the number of things I have colored on the computer is up to two now, but you know.) Anyways, I decided to go the traditional route and painted my original line-art.
This one is done 100% in watercolor.

The watercolor brand is Art Advantage. It's nice stuff. I was less impressed with Art Advantage's acrylic sets, but their watercolor paint is great.

Wow, this really is great! I love the colors~ :3 I'd never be able to do this with watercolors! I'm terrible with paint in general... xD I stick with colored pencils.

To be honest I've never really been a paint person either. It's only been since like, July of this year that I started watercoloring because up till now I've been too afraid to try. I actually ended up buying a nice new set of watercolors so I would feel obligated to venture out of my comfort zone. And even now I scan or photograph the original sketch before I paint it so that I have a backup for safekeeping, but I'm getting braver. Sometimes you've gotta try something you aren't 100% confident about, because you just might end up surprising yourself.
But I'll admit, colored pencils are the greatest.

No problem! And yeah, I guess I haven't used watercolors in a long time, the last time I used them was in 6th grade... ; o; I'm still not very sure about painting, but I guess I'll try it sometime! :3

This watercolor painting is really good. I love to many things to list about it, but the best are the colors, and how you made the some of the lines really defined with other colors mixed in. I'm not up to that stage yet in watercolor… this painting is amazing.

Of course! I love the colors. Did you use the watercolor stuff in the tubes, or just the ones that you add water to a pallet?

I used both tubes and pallet, but mostly tube paint for this one because I've found that it's a lot easier for me to do texture or detail with a thicker paint. It ended up being really helpful when doing the fur.
Alternatively, the pallet seems to work better for me when I do washes or splatter techniques, since I don't always add as much water as I should to the tube paint.

I like the tube paint, too (it's my favorite). The pallet definitely works better for lighter, bigger areas.
Though I do digital art most of the time, I'm hoping to get watercolors for my birthday!
