Description Ok, this is the first design for a mini project I've got going on to create some blog conversation.

It is a birch bookmark with a pyrographed (burnt) dragon, edged in gold with a real tigers eye bead. On the reverse is a burnt message with my blog address. I'm planning to leave these on trains, in library books, public benches etc for people to find.

If you found him, would you keep him?

This beautiful!

It's a shame these isn't quicker method of producing these, because then you could make more and leave them lying about (i love that idea), it's just a shame this thing of beauty (and time and expense and labour) that must have taken you ages to make will just be lost. Maybe a more lo-fi version for promotion purposes? Not as impactful I guess, but it would save you a heap of time, and you could then link to your blog and folk could purchase the real thing there?

Just a thought. If you can't mass produce these cheaply and quickly, I think the idea will just get lost.

Reminds me a little of Kerri Smiths's projects [link] [link]

Thanks

As it happens the wood is cheap and easy to source and costs less than the price of printing promo postcards(which I've just done). I see what you mean though, I'm going to experiment with it at first in very strategic places. Eventually I will be selling my pyro work from the shop but I'm still very much a beginner - this was done with a solid point.

Really appreciate the feedback and links

I do love that fact that each is crafted induvidually, and that because of this, whoever picks it up isn't just going to lob it in the bin I guess that's your point with this - people will see its a quality item rather than a bit of old card and that it has substance. I get it. Anything less than this, and you've lost the point. Shame though that you can hire some minions to help you make them! I love hand crafted stuffs. Once you hve a few made, I'll gladly buy one from you.

Lets see what you've done on the back!

That's it! I love the idea of finding something special randomly, I'm just going to trust that the dragons find the right people. I'm starting with just 4 that I will release in the Midlands lol.

On the back it says:
'Congratulations! You 've found a book dragon. My name is Sylus. Let my creator know you have found me at:
www.adamasantiquejewellery.com/blog'

I'll update again when I've got the set done. It doesn't take long to do one it is just finding the time to sit and do it!

I'm not too sure yet haha, I will go out and see what happens! Most likely on a train seat, in a library, coffee shop etc...

I'd definitely keep him! Well, I'd go to your blog and say I found it, in case you wanted it back...

You'll just... leave them lying around??? I'm not sure I could ever do that with something that pretty.

Thanks They will be left around and there is a page explaining them on my blog (once I've got the ball rolling). It is just an experiment at the minute
