Description YAAAY~ First cake photo

It's a present for my aunt in Hong Kong who I'm going to see very very soon (like in 36 hours soon ^O^). She has this super obsession with pandas since I can remember >3> and so what better design could there be for the great panda afficionado? This guy's coming with me on the flight (hope they'll let me on the plane >3< with him) and hopefully the lovely flight attendants will take good care of him and find him a spot in the fridge. Aside from the fact that rotating the cake box vertically could kill him, his Swiss meringue butter cream fur should hopefully ensure his safety.

Making the cake was really quite fun as I'd never attempted to make a cake that wasn't a traditionally decorated and piped layer-cake (gwahahaha stepping out of my comfort zone). Then occurred the event which I shall forever name "THE GREAT BLUE & YELLOW COLOURING CASCADES". Lemme introduce you to this kitchen catastrophe:

Panda-boy was finished and I had just finished assembling his bamboo-leaf companions. 6 hours had whizzed by on this sunny day in the end stretch of summer. The minute I laid down the last fondant leaf I was overjoyed and was screaming "KENNY TAKE A PHOTO HURRY HURRY HURRY". In my haste to get panda-boy photographically preserved, I pushed him to the center of the table. And consequently knocked over the two uncapped bottles of blue and yellow food colouring used to colour the leaves. I think I screamed then >> From the mouths of the over-turned bottles poured a stream of intermingling colours flowing gracefully. Which dashed against the hardwood floor and splattered in a gruesome mess. hahaha I think mom went a bit psycho, dashing to and fro with a mop and uttering her own steady stream of colour. The colours did mingle nicely on the table ledge Buttercup yellow embraced indigo blue, forming a spreading rainbow from concentrated yellow to dripping ink purple - and all the colours in between. Mom was pretty pissed and I don't think dad was happy either ~____~ It did dye the floor boards a really nice emerald green though wonder why they're still all huffy about it ...
