Entry for the contest at I chose Sailor Moon (and this version of her) for multiple reasons.

1. Sailor Moon was the reason I started drawing. When I first started drawing (more than doodles on Bob Evans paper place mats THEY NO LONGER USE anyway) all I drew were Sailor Moon characters and my own Senshi. Sadly I don't think I have any of those horrific drawings anymore (lol)

2. The contest is to commemorate magical girls from 1999 and earlier, and to me Sailor Moon was the best and is the most worthy to be celebrated.

3. Relating to both 1 & 2 I chose the original anime version (with the brooch being mixed the manga's cause idk I just wanted to) of Sailor Moon to symbolize the start of it all— in this drawing Usagi is taken aback by her sparkly new look! lol sorry that was cheesy.

4. I chose to use Traditional media because of #1. It was all colored pencils back then, so I decided why not celebrate by using them again for at least this contest?
