Description First photo: Me in Kazoo-inspired makeup

Second photo: Kazoo

Third photo: (From left to right: My brother's girlfriend, my girlfriend, me, my brother, and Kazoo)

I did not take these pictures. I did do some of the facepaint in the photos and I am in them. The photographer is named Josh Freeman, and you can see more of his lovely work at his website: [link]

So these are pictures taken at Kazoo the Mime's final performance at Seaport Village. My friends and I donned the faces and attire of mimes, tramps, and clowns to pay our respect to the San Diego icon of Kazoo the proper way. I mean Kazoo is as well known as Shamu to residents! This is one of the only mimes in San Diego.

Kazoo is portrayed by the brilliant pantomime artist Jerry Hager. He's a wonderfully talented man who is a joy to be around. He's also my professor at Grossmont College, where he teaches Beginning Acting, Pantomime, and directs a yearly touring children's show.

It's a shame Kazoo is being stamped out of Seaport. But apparently they are trying to change Seaport's image, and that image doesn't include Kazoo...

It was a great final performance. You could watch this man for hours with his wacky characters and harmless humour.
Now we're all mostly acting students...and when we showed up in full mime attire...needless to say we called a lot of attention to ourselves. So we played the bit. We didn't talk, and we did shtick the whole day. We even stayed in character when ordering meals. Lots of fun. And we ended up on the news.

Farewell Kazoo! Your magic will live on!

Heh, it's actually really rather interesting to see your brother's make-up here as a basis for his Spine make-up design. It's really interesting to see the evolution.

I actually had a caricature and kazoo he gave me when I was probably 8 years old. The drawing probably hung in my room for 15 years.

Good grief, Bunny!  I was trying to do research on mimes for class and I ended up here!
