This was supposed to be the character I was gonna enter into DA's Space Pirate contest, but since I was sick and hurt my hand, I wasn't able to finish a picture in time TvT...

But here's the character reference I made for her. I really like how her design ended up like. ^^

Basically in this Universe, there are Family crest that contain special powers and abilities. How this works is there is the Major crest which houses all the minor crests inside it, and when a sentient being is born, they have typically one of the minor crests on their body. Depending on the crest's meaning and placement, that area is embued with that crest's specific power. For example if the crest means power and is on the person's right arm, that arm is extremely strong.

Here is "Ania" (name still pending ehhhh.....), she is a child of the red sashed Pirates. The group is known for never killing their victims, and only taking what is needed to survive half a year. They consisted of her mother, father, and 5 brothers. Ania is the youngest, smallest, and most inexperienced of them. She is rarely taken on any raids, despite her wishes, and is always stuck on their ship learning how to write. The world is told she was born without a crest, but in reality she was born with her family's Major Crest within her eye. This is an extremely rare occurrence, and extremely dangerous if it gets out. When a crest is in someone's eye, it means their spirit is imbued with the power of the crest, and is able to control it anywhere on their body if they focus. Because of this her family forces her to wear a black eye patch to cover her eye, and never tells her the true meaning of her crest. But that doesn't stop her stubbornness, she still wants to fight and prove herself stronger than the rest, despite not "having" a crest. In the future she will achieve that goal, but at unknown costs to her now.

One day her family went out to raid a heavily guarded estate, and Ania decided to tag along after being picked on by her older brothers and told she couldn't handle it. It was a stealth mission, and she was quickly captured... She was taken to the owner, originally as bait for the family's arrest (since they have a large bounty on their head), but something happened. He noticed Ania had no marks, and an eye patch on her right eye. So he quickly ripped off the eye patch, and everyone in the room saw, and then fell to the ground. Everyone was dead, her family killed them all on the spot. But it wasn't enough, that night their ship was invaded, and her whole family died protecting her, and she barely got away.

Now Ania dawns the 5 sashes of her brothers, the hat of her father, and the torn kimono of her mother... ready to take revenge.
btw her crest contains power (middle), wisdom (top), spirit (bottom), and speed (right/left)

But anyway yeah that's the idea of the character and story, idk I kinda like it maybe one day I'll work on it, but rn just hope you like the picture and rough description lol!
