Since I'm revamping my site i havent done anything new, per se. But I felt this piece belonged here.

All the way back in 2004, I'm 20 years old and branching out creatively with dolling to make my own "baseless" work. This was a part of a collaborative effort with a friend of mine ([link] ) who did the other mermaid [not pictured here, of course].

Concept -- What a mermaid would look like in the deepest parts of the sea.

Out in the dark depths exists a somewhat savage, cannibalistic, if not barbaric, race of mermaids that mermaids in the higher realms tell their children about to scare them from going too far into the deep. And while these creatures are ruthless survivalist, they are not without their awe. They too are fascinated by the world around them and seek to capture it and understand it.

Here such a creature is looking with wonder and perhaps happiness at the "pet" Angling Fish of another fellow deep sea mermaid. Much in the way you may enjoy time with your friend's puppy or kitten. An innocent look into an otherwise dangerous species of mermaid.
