Description Now I'm going down the long dark hall, into history back. Back to the early 2000s, when D&D was in its 3rd edition, and the Dragonlance setting book had just come out. Dragonlance has always been my favorite of all the D&D worlds, and my tabletop group spent quite a long time adventuring around Krynn. Here I've drawn two of our characters from that long-ago game.

The hill dwarf Duncan Fireforge grew up with his head in the clouds, always daydreaming and yearning to one day be a great hero, just like his famous Uncle Flint. Leaving behind his boyhood village of Hillhome, he set out towards Palanthas. He was bound and determined to become the first dwarven Knight of Solamnia, and even shaved his beard down to his mustache to prepare. Along the way, he chanced to meet the kender Squirrel. She had grown up in a monastery dedicated to the god Majere, learning their forms of bare-handed fighting. Though far more disciplined than her fellow kender, she still fell sway to her people's inborn wanderlust and departed to seek adventure. The two met up along the road and began travelling together. One night after a hearty camp supper, Duncan reaches for his tobacco pouch, all set to enjoy his evening pipe. But wouldn't you know it, it had come loose from his belt and fallen off. Luckily, Squirrel had found it--but she made sure to peek inside just to make sure.

More background and landscape practice, combined with lighting. I made heavy use of glow layers on this one, trying to make the campfire look like it was casting realistic light and shadows. I loved rendering the dual moons of Solinari and Lunitari. I think I'm getting better at drawing the female form. I had a real good time working on this piece. It brought back a lot of fond memories. I hope you beautiful people enjoyed this trip down memory lane.
