I don't have one, sorry. I made this in 2007 and it was the only one I made.

It looks Great! I have to make this shield and Xigbar's Guns. I already have the Lexicon done. (And it took me a long time to get everything done.) Foam would work but I have soo much wood lying around. If I were to give a tip if you plan on making another shield, cut directly down the middle and file the middle at an angle. Then just glue. I have the plans and stuff just to lazy to start right now. XD

Well, the problem with making it actually somewhat 3-dimensional is that I was using Plywood, which was a pain to even cut out shape-wise because pieces kept flying off.
Though this was just a one-time thing, I probably won't be making another.

Ahh well I'm sure there is a way to do it with Plywood and another material.

Probably, but I couldn't afford to go get more wood and Plywood was all my dad had xD
And like I said, was a one-time thing anyway. I don't even cosplay anymore.

Can I be a very annoying and amazed person and ask what did you make this from? *worships*

Buri288 In reply to Safira-chan [2008-12-01 23:25:27 +0000 UTC]
Plywood XD
I wouldn't suggest using it though. While cutting it out pieces were flying everywhere cause it's really not decent wood. XD
There's better stuff out there that's lightweight :3

Hm.. Like what? It's my first time wanting to try out something like this so if you could give me some tips I would... Worship you even more. xD

My fiancee mentioned some sort, but I can't remember what it's called.
Also I suggest making a tracing first on a big sheet of paper and using it as a guide. That's what I did. My dad had a projector screen I was able to use. :3
I used oil paint to paint it, which seemed to work best with the wood, but it stains like a bitch and you have to use a special solvent to get it off of anything, including fingers XD
Also as you can see, I made it look 3-D when in reality it's completely flat.

That's... awesome... *looks at you with big eyes* I should really look around for some material. The shield is the only thing I broke my head on how to do. T^T

awww D:
Check around like Home Depot or Menard's for wood. Make sure it's lightweight though otherwise it'll be SUPER heavy XD

lol, ok. XDD What tools should I use for best effect?

Buri288 In reply to Safira-chan [2008-12-02 00:13:39 +0000 UTC]
For cutting it out?
I used an electric hand-saw/jig-saw/whatever they're called XD
Then I used regular metal files to smooth out the crappy parts.
I would suggest to leave a little bit of extra wood outside the outline to ensure you don't accidentally cut off too much XD

Looks like a shield meant to stab people, very nice indeed

Buri288 In reply to Romaneck [2008-01-24 00:06:00 +0000 UTC]
lmao well indeed, you could stabbity someone with it ^^
the ends weren't all that sharp on this though, because of weapons policies at the convention and I didn't want to have to cap the tips cause it would have looked crappy.
Could give you a hardcore splinter though O__o

Buri288 In reply to FrozenNocturne01 [2007-07-28 23:23:10 +0000 UTC]
yeah it's all wood ^^
Plywood, cause it was all we had.
Basically, I blew up the picture with my dad's projector, and traced the outlines and stuff.
then transfered it to the wood with transfer paper and a pencil.
then you just sort of use whatever saw you think works best to cut it out and sand it of course after that.
Then you choose the type of paint. I used oil paint on a white base coat because it looked nicer overall.
