Sorry... >_< I have stuff to be working on... but I wanted to draw something really fast and sketchy (as seen by how messy this is) of one of my Pokemon Trainer OCs. I've been playing Pokemon Blue again (recreating my team from FireRed) and I wanna draw art of this while I'm in the moment!!! When I play a new Pokemon game, I make gijinka and trainer characters based on the team I have in the games :3 This is Books, my character for Pokemon "gen 1". I.... do not remember why I called him Books.Books is seen here with Regal the Raichu and Jackal the Flareon. Books is oblivious to the rivalry and hatred between Regal and Jackal. Regal was his first main Pokemon (Pikachu from Viridian Forest) and armed with 10manVolt and Megaton-punch (JP move names cause I'm obnoxious) she is a formidable Pokemon. When Books finally arrived in Celadon city, he could purchase a Thunderstone and finally evolve Regal into a Raichu. It was her moment to shine! But what ELSE can be had in Celadon? A FREE EEVEE? Regal lost her spotlight to the new Eevee, and even though she had to wait for her Thunderstone, Jackal was able to be evolved right away into Flareon! Still, Regal wasn't too concerned, she wasn't threatened by an inexperienced, chubby Flareon with no fire moves. But... turns out.... 130 base attack stat + Body Slam =.... well, Jackal quickly became the MVP of the team, making Regal furious and jealous of him. Their rivalry continues on and on....
When I play the games, I develop the Pokemon's personalities based on their performance. As my FireRed Jackal was AMAZING, I imagined him having a superior and stuck-up personality. Also I have gijinka (humanised versions) of Jackal and Regal that are unfinished --- OMG stop ranting

I have played every generation too except the last generation. To be specific Fire red, Heartgold (and Soulsilver), Emerald (and Omega Ruby), Diamond (and Pearl and Platinum), Pokemon Black (and white 2), Pokemon X, Pokemon Sun. Which one do you like the most?

Wow awesome! I played Pokemon Moon recently... it's a bit too easy and I am not a fan of the newer graphics, but it was very fun!
Oh! Yes, I love HeartGold! That's an amazing game!! I love how your Pokemon follows you, I wish the other games had that feature too. I also really like Emerald because the first Pokemon Trainer OC I made was based on my team from Emerald, haha XD

When I played Pokemon Emerald, I made a female trainer OC called "Duke" haha (my Pokemon OCs have weird names xDDDD) I really want to draw her too because I don't draw many female characters, and she was the first Pokemon character I made

Wow! It is amazing that you are so creative and even develop stories and personalities for your characters from the game! It is something incredible! I could never do that, I have no imagination - that is why I love "Dragon Age" and other Bioware's games, where everyone's story is already written in details : - )) Your pokemons are really cool! I like how you drew their emotions and how they look at each other! Their rivalry definitely can be seen on the picture and the sparks are flying : - ) The oblivious and nice facial expression of the trainer made me smile : - ) It is a interesting scene : - ) The sketchy background looks surprisingly stylish here, by the way! The patches of colours add dynamics to the composition, I like that : - )

Oh thank you... I really did not intend to write so much about the Pokemon picture, but I got hooked writing my silly story, haha... yes, for some reason, even with games (games such as Pokemon, where the creatures have no real traits) I find myself inventing my own stories and personalities for them, just based on small things that happen within the game, it's really fun for me to do >w< Haha!! "The sparks are flying", that made me laugh!! I'm very happy you like this kind of thing, even though it's very sketchy... Pokemon is such a popular fandom that I want my pictures of it to be unique in some way, such as making my own human characters and trying to show the emotions and personalities of the Pokemon themselves. Oh! Thanks about the background... the background is so awful and patchy here because I only used one colour layer - meaning I could not have the BG brushes touch the characters. It made it look really awkward -- but I'm glad you think it looks stylish!!
And you DO have imagination! Your AU world is incredible and you put a massive amount of realism and creativity into your CP characters! You have lots of creativity where it is important! - most people aren't weird like me, where I have to attach personalities to everything, even pixel sprites in old games, haha :^P

Thank you so much.. though I DO think that you deserve a lot of credit for how indepth your CP characters are -- sure they are based on existing work, but the info on them was very limited and so you added a LOT of extra context! Hmm.. actually, we are different in that regard... I can make up characters easily from scratch, it's actually a lot easier for me if I have a blank slate and nothing prior to work with - such as a bunch of pixels.. XD But... I don't think I could do what you do; to take an existing character or idea and expand upon it and deepen what was already there. I don't think I could ever do that well! Which is why when I focus on a fandom character I like, I only adhere to their strict canonical facts, I never take liberties and make stuff up about them. But when you do that, it's really unique and genuine! It's really interesting that we assign creativity in different ways. :3

Yes, this is really interesting observation about assigning our creativity... 0 : - ) I also know that I could never do what you do. We have different talents 0 : - ) I actually tried to make OCs when I was in school, because I was always told by my friends that I should try to make something original instead of fanfiction, but my OCs turned out terrible and to tell the truth I hated them : - )) My friends liked them, however, but I did not, and so I returned to writing AU stories about the characters I really liked. Creating AU stories have always made me happy. Sometimes I created a whole new world for the character to live in, but not the characters themselves. I think I need to love characters deeply and to see myself in one of them, and only then I will be able to write about them. It is hard to explain... but I cannot start creating something first and only after that start to love the characters : - ) It have never worked for me : - ) But I have a deep respect and appreciation for the people who can create something so interesting from scratch : - )

That's very interesting! So you tried to create original characters before but it didn't really work. I can really see what you mean though - you have to truly like and connect with something before you are able to invest in giving them a world or a story. I think your way makes a lot of sense, because you are giving this attention to a character you already love. When you make OCs from scratch, it really is like a lottery, and I have had this happen too! Whenever I sit down and TRY to make an OC that I will love (when I think: "Ok, I'm going to make this great/wonderful/appealing character now") usually they end up awful and I don't like them at all, so I ditch them. In reality, all of my favourite OCs became so by accident. For example, some of my favourite characters (say, Okito and Hideo) started off as nothing special, but over time, through chance, they ended up being characters that were "successful" so I held onto them dearly. But like you say, making characters from nothing is a hard thing to do and very often it can be a waste of time. In my case I just make SO many OCs that I always will like some of them, and in your case you want to have someone preexisting that you can get attached to ^^

I do not know, maybe 20 of them in the only original story I tried to write in my school years : - ) Well, to each their own, I guess : - ) I think artist's love for the characters is the one thing that really matters for creating an interesting story : - )

Yeah his name is "Books" this name is a mystery, even to me. When I played one of the Pokemon games.... maybe 8 or 10 years ago I made the trainer/character called "Books" and now I'm replaying a game with the same team. But... I can't REMEMBER why I called him Books. His name is literally a mystery to me... lost to the ages forever....
