Everytime I read a comment you posted I imagine you saying that with your head swinging back and forth. It makes me dizzy......

i seem to have a split idea about it really
in some was like other people have said i find it slighty disturbing as though shes going to jump in but on the other hand i feel like shes standing there and reflecting on something beacuse the water is like a mirror and allows for it.

Thank you! I'm glad you think so. I think the black and white worked much better for this image than it did in color.

gnads! the emo and the conceptual photographer are battling for supremeacy over the theme of this photo!

OH MY GOD! I was there just a couple of months ago. Before I read the description I was thinking "This sure does look like the shallow pond around the modern art museum." Small world.

Awesome photo too.

Those heels are craaaaaazy. How does she walk in them!? But its a neato angle, but i have to admit I would like to see it in colour.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BurlapZack In reply to vacantskies [2006-02-21 05:37:54 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I don't know actually. She tended to wear heels most of the time though. Welllll. I shot it with a red filter on. So the color version is the same but with reds instead of grays.

Great concept! (Even if you had somthing other in mind, as I read from the other quotations. ) The water looks beautiful and the perspective is really good!
Cool shoes, by the way!

Thank you! The concept (if any) really only came to me long after I had taken the photo.
Wardrobe credit goes strictly to Sarah's sense of fashion.

piccolo [2006-01-03 12:52:22 +0000 UTC]

Its one of those movie-eque type conceptual shots. She's either going to kill herself, or going to move forward with life (or something cheesy like that). Hahaha.

Maybe that's just my head thinking up cheesy stories behind it. Whatever.

She's got some might viens.

BurlapZack In reply to piccolo [2006-04-12 06:09:09 +0000 UTC]

It's the classic Robert Frost, two-paths-in-the-forest dichotomy. Or some nonsense like that.
Thanks, chief!

howdy zack! Happy New Year!

time for me to catch up with several months' worth of not logging in to DA

I like it being in b&w - is this one film? the skirt looks kindof grainy which is nice I like the exposure too - perfect in the subject and going all the way to lurvely overexposed at the top

bitch about the little of something creeping in the top right corner....but meh, it's not so bad

it feels like a shot from a murder mystery - right now there should be a scream and then it cuts to finding the body...hehe

nice work

BurlapZack In reply to mattyk [2006-04-12 06:11:00 +0000 UTC]

Thanks man! This one was actually digital, with a red filter on.
Yeah, the top corner is what bugs me about this shot too.
Ooo, there's some Clue-esque stuff going on.

Anyways... this is a very good image, somewhat different than your usual stuff. I like it, its a great concept.

Shanstar [2005-12-31 04:28:41 +0000 UTC]

The concept behind this is very moving, and yet disturbing at the same time. The black and white is perfect for this shot.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BurlapZack In reply to Shanstar [2006-01-03 03:11:32 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I agree, I found it a little disturbing too. It's always weird to take a picture purely because you think it's aesthetically pleasing, and then when you look at it later, you realize that the underlying message is something entirely different than what you had in mind. I guess I have no idea what's going on in my subconscious.
