aw god. i just love how it's painted, really sketchy and messy...but also detailed! i cant do that at all D: if i add even a touch of detail i must then spend the next 5 hours detailing the whole thing D8 completely Unnecessarily.

I really wish I were better at making neat, clean pictures though. I envy you for being able to do that, seriously. I've tried it before, and it isn't easy D8 It's funny how making things simple is hard for one person, and making something detailed can be an issue for another.

And Stan's expression is this mix of "what the hell do you want?" and "...hey..." and this feeling of loneliness and serenity... ahh I think said it all. Oh my god, thank you so much for posting this! I am feeling everything about it right now, seriously. I mean, Iβm really, really, REALLY moved.
The light in his face is just incredible--his eyes look so stark and soulful. The title is so apt; the emotion here is just epic. I love how you muted the red with a gray tone, because I wouldβve happily kept it bright and totally ruined the balance of the composition. The distance is just unbelievableβ¦seriously, it is so masterfully almost-but-not-quite impressionistic that I can see houses, fences, yards, a whole neighborhood. I have no idea how the fuck you did that, but it is so beautiful. Just the breadth of it takes my breath away. And, of course, thereβs that incredible hint of light over the mountains--I donβt mean to get all sappy on you, but that tiny touch makes me feel so much happier about my silly emo life right now. I know this is totally Hallmark-tacky, but I keep thinking about that quote, βItβs always darkest before dawn.β Maybe we're all closer to relief than we think we are. I love it, I love it.
