I love Murakami! And Shinjuku is an inspiring place, though I think it's slowly losing it's old school hard edge and becoming more and more commercialized and 'clean'.

It's my second Murakami's. The only one I've read complete is Tokyo Blues.
Is it a pity it's changing? I don't know Japan >.< But I guess yeah, it is. Even if it's more clear now.

Well change is means the past goes away but the future can also arrive and there will be new stories and places for which people will have a sense of nostalgia some day as well. It's a cycle.

No, a friend and I traveled to different cities over the three weeks. I was planning to try and go back through the JET program but unfortunately that never panned out

I was also a JET reject. In the end it worked out really well for me. I got a job in a private company, met some wonderful people, and learned a lot about myself.

While I'm browsing your gallery, Tokyo appears to me as specially cut out for colorful night photos. And I'm starting to feel like visiting it. ^^ I don't know if that's beacuse of the city itself or the photographer's skill or both, but what I know is that this is really amazing shot!

Tokyo does have a lot of bright and colorful lights which really paint the surfaces in all these awesome colors. Especially in the rain, the most gorgeous time in this city.
