Description She has strange writing on her hand. It was very intriguing and what made me do a little 180 to get a photo: hip shot so she wouldn't notice me.

I'm now back in the US and have to live vicariously through your lens.

So how long will it take for you to say..."I miss Japan?"

burningmonk In reply to maxre [2013-03-26 03:18:31 +0000 UTC]

I miss it a lot, but I'll be back in Tokyo by the end of the week. My time in Chicago was nice, though.

You must have a great job to be able to live there. If I could find a PM job there, I'd take it but the only thing I've seen are JET jobs.

You have to look at companies such as Aeon, ECC, Geos, Gaba, Berlitz, Coco, etc. These companies are not all a perfect place to work, but they can get you started in Japan.

I'll have to remember that. Got 2 yrs until I retire. Then it's time to start a second career.

it reminded me of a picture I tried to take from a cute dog without its owner permission. we were in a train and I forgot to turn the flash off. the flash went off and the dog jumped. the owner looked at me and smiled. I wanted to die.

I don't think she would have noticed you if had raised the camera to your eye

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

burningmonk In reply to SimonSawSunlight [2011-08-25 08:33:44 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps, but from my experience in Tokyo people are really sensitive to being in front of a camera and they easily notice it (especially my gigantic SLR). I could have well gotten the shot but she might have looked up right into my lens and I wanted to avoid that. I also like the hip level perspective, which I could get by dropping to one knee, but that attracts even more attention.

Ah, I see! Some Japanese girls look like they have foreign features. I think it might be because we all have a common genetic heritage.

Philluppus In reply to burningmonk [2011-08-25 09:13:16 +0000 UTC]

that could be a reason,
in my cousin's case is cos
she really has different parents origins as in continental history,

Hello there

Which lens did you use ...
Datas said: 40 mm f:2
If it is a Zoom ?? Which one opens at 2??

By the way, you submitted it in the "contest" ... (in :I-AM-NIKON
but it is not in the Theme .. (we love Nikon is the Theme), so I moved it ...

Oh man, sorry that was just a mistake. I forgot to select a category! But yeah, the lens is a Voigtlander 40mm F/2.0 (manual focus prime). Anyway, realize now that it might not be okay for this group! I'm really sorry if that's the case. I shoot with a D3 so I thought lens doesn't really matter. Also, my other main lens is an 85mm F/1.4 AIS. Anyway, if you can't include the photos in the group then I understand. I feel like a Nikon user so I didn't really consider the lens. Sorry!

So I mocved it ...

I was just curious ... about thet lens

burningmonk In reply to nikonforever [2011-08-17 02:58:23 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I jump to conclusions to quickly. But about the lens, it is pretty nice and fun to use. And also very small and light.

What a beautiful picture! I love the lighting and her pose; your creeping was worth it because the angle's great! Her face is bittersweet - she looks a little lonely. To me, it's a pretty emotional shot. Great job!

Thanks for point out that I'm a creep, LOL! But yeah, I like her pose and emotions as well. Lovely and mysterious.

Haha, sorry! I just meant that you mentioned having to maneuver a bit and shoot from the hip to get this angle. You're not a creep, I'm sure.
