Why the hooks? I understand the general theme and tone of the piece, but why specifically those items...?

Hooks are a recurring theme in my paintings. I'm not entirely sure when or why my facination with them started, but they are defently one of my obsessions ^__^
In this specific pic I would say the hooks both represent the "enemy" so to speak, wether they be real or imagined..inner demons or a genuine threat. And also as a paralell perhaps an aid, something that's coming from above to elvevate from the depths, from the deception.
