The process of climate warming seen in the Alps. The house on the right side was built in 1855, you could step on the glacier from this house and cross it to climb the mountain on the left. Now the glacier is deep in the valley and the house is closed due to the danger of crashing down.Related content

I understand that, as some of these glaciers recede, they are finding ancient villages and hunting camps beneath them.

Which proves that there was a time before where these areas had a much warmer climate. Humans so love to believe we have stupendous affect. In truth, the earth has gone through greater warming and cooling periods, long before there were ever enough of us or our industrialisation to have an effect. The real debate is consumerism, we are depleting a finite supply of natural resources at an ever increasing rate. Bigger meals, bigger tvs, bigger cars, houses, bigger appetites!
