Description
This fantastic illustration by The Real Ghostbusters veteran KEN STEACY is one of two that appears in an article describing how the series evolved over its seven seasons! I thought it would be amusing to show the moment when Peter Venkman realizes that Slimer has become the star of the show and the subsequent renaming of the series. This illustration was beautiful colored by NATHAN BAERTSCH.Related content

I remember this artist. I never quite liked his work. He illustrated an RGB comic back in the 80s, but he ended up making the Ghostbusters look more like the Muppet Babies, all chibified and off model.
It also didn't help that the storyline didn't make a lick of sense either, but I digress.

Never viewed it as a new Series. Tacking on a Cartoon named "Slimer!" and dubing the hour Slimer! and The Real Ghostbusters. Infact during the first season of the hour name, they still made a separate intro for the Real Ghostbusters show in the middle of the hour.
Anyways the art is funny. Hits the nail on the head as to how fans felt about the show towards the end.

I loved Slimer when he was a supporting character, but once he became the forefront of the show the story lines and the situations certainly lost that dark, edgy feel that had made the show so enjoyable. Slimer was still a fun character to watch, but all too often there would be pointless scenes eating up times of him having trouble with a mammoth sandwhich or getting into a fist-fight with his shadow and it really hurt the quality of the show.

Awesome pic, even if I didn't care for The Real Ghostbusters series.... I always loved Slimer though.

I never card much for the SLimer ersion of theseries--it was too much like a dog-hhuman relationship. Peter's expression is absolutely right on, although it looks a little different from what I remember as STeacy's orginal artwork.

I don't like "Slimer! And the Real Ghostbusters". They're not so.. real.

I didn't understand that when they did it. I thought Slimer was annoying and the better stories had the guys acting without him.
