My original layout had Gargamel looming over Smurfette with lightning behind him - Fortunately Tim Kelly tossed my idea out the window and came up with this AMAZING piece!

It came out really well.

So do you usually set up the layouts for the pieces then have other artists execute your vision or do you do most of the work yourself and just get guest artists to do a few pieces per issue?

Oh no, I don't illustrate anything for the magazine - I can draw adequately, but nothing worthy of publishing!

More than often I send an artist my very rough layout illustration of what I have in mind - Then they work their magic and come up with these amazing pieces that you see throughout the gallery!
