Description My second attempt at this type of pic, possibly too much saturation in it but overall I like the effect and the finished article.

The effect is possibly a Lens flare, or more likely, a sun halo also known as a nimbus, icebow or Gloriole.

I caught the sun through the trees and underexposed the image till the effect was at it's best, It kept moving so I had to keep shooting till I got the right pic that I was happy with. Was trial and error for me, changing exposure and I even tried a fe different filters at one point but wasnt happy with the result. In the end I went with just the UV filter, I used auto focus though (I know - a cheat lol) and took a few pics to get this one.
Camera settings were as follows:
Shutter Speed:1/500 second
Aperture:F/7.1
Focal Length:14 mm
ISO Speed:160

I waited till late evening and made sure I had the tree cover but I have seen better pics and completely circular Halo's when photographing the sun only.

Hope this makes sense and helps.
Let me know if you try it and how you get on?

BB
