Approximately 65 million years ago, dinosaurs and other prehistoric reptiles ruled the earth, sea, and air. Fossil evidence shows that there were intermediate archosaurids, species with traits of both land animals and sea animals. One species was more well known that others, and had survived the mass extinction up into our time. One of these creatures was exposed to nuclear testing near Japan. Surprisingly, the creature absorbed an abnormal dose of radioactive energy, and gained a growth spurt. This creature resembled a sea dragon in Odo Island folklore, which was called "Gojira". Its American name would eventually instill terror in the hearts of men...

GODZILLA.

Godzilla is the most well known giant monster, or Kaiju, and has been studied more than any other. Living mostly in the sea, Godzilla comes to land only to feed or to fight off potential threats. Although he seems to defend the Earth from aliens, mutants, and other external threats, Godzilla has never included "humans" in the list of things he deliberately protects. To the contrary, it is often human folly that arouses Godzilla's ire. Because of this fact, the Global Defense Force considers Godzilla to be an extremely dangerous potential adversary. Nevertheless, Godzilla exists to remind us of where we stand in the natural order.
