Description     Today is Friday, February 12. It's not actually a holiday, but at Karasuno, it's been bustling with festivities as though it were.

Valentine's Day lands on Sunday, so most people are celebrating today.

    Yourself included.

You've had your eye on Sawamura Daichi since the school year started, and your friends aren't letting you escape it any longer.

It is on this day that you are going to present to him your feelings as well as your gift offerings.

To say you're feeling nervous is an understatement, your friends have talked to you and given you multiple pep talks, so you can do it, you can do it-

You stare down at the objects in your hands, you can do it, you've talked to him before, there's no reason to chicken out now.

You clench your fists a bit--still careful not to crush it--and think of your crush.

You met him the first day of school, when, upon seeing your confusion as you examined the paper you clenched tight in your hands, approached you and offered help. He helped you find your classroom with ease, and you've been grateful ever since.

Since then, every time you two cross paths, there's always a small greeting. You like to think he hasn't forgotten about you, and that's been proven by all the times he's helped you out in the library as well, anytime you dropped a book or a pen, he seemed to be nearby. The same could be said if you were reaching for a book on any higher selves.

He'd always be there to help with a smile.

The few times you've conversed, you'd leave with a very dazed smile, enchanted by his proud but bashful smile, casual remarks and good humor. It was always endearing to see the small tinge of pink that sometimes found its way to his face.

You breath in, ah yes, that always made your heart swell.

Inside the orange and black wrapped box, you had a plate of homemade chocolates, and had a black bow with orange crows tying it together. The card you had inside also had crow themes, but since you've often seen his fellow third-year friend Suga gift him with crow themed stationary--and use it--you don't think it's too bad.

    But will he like it..?

The pep talk from one of your friends fills your thoughts, saying that with the way he blushes and holds conversation with you must mean something. That he'll accept your gifts, at the very least. And maybe accept and return your feelings as well...!

While you argued that he is a third-year and focused on school and the volleyball team, your friends were quick to dissuade you from giving up, claiming it would brighten up his day at the very least, and he would enjoy such a gift and confession from you.

(You really hoped they were right.)

You hear noises from inside the volleyball club room, the guys' to be precise, and you can tell some of them are finally getting ready to leave after practice. It's really about time, practice technically ended over a half hour ago.

You wave goodbye as some second years leave, and chat with Tanaka, Asahi and Noya as they leave. You see a tall blonde first year accompanied with a freckled brunette leave, and huff as the taller one ignores you.

More members leave, including the duo you recognize as Kageyama and Hinata--who are bickering--and they--Hinata--happily explain that the remaining third-years will be out soon.

(Yes they've seen you wait after practice for Daichi before--for the time he forgot his book at the library, and one time his report.)

(You try not to dwell on that, they were legitimate reasons, and not excuses.)

Soon enough, the silver-haired Suga and his dark-haired friend leave and lock up the room. You gulp, now is the time.

Shoot, all the words you thought of saying have vanished from your mind, your tongue feels dry, and your throat, dryer. You try to swallow, and somehow--miraculously--you do.

"S-Sawamura, hello." He turns at your voice and swallows--you pretend not to notice how he stiffened.

    "Hey."

Suga coughs, "Daichi you can lock up, right? I'm going to go catch up with Asahi and Noya!" And with a wink, leaves Daichi fumbling to catch the keys.

    "Ah, yeah, see you Monday."

After he locks up and ticks the key away, you speak up. "So Valentine's Day is Sunday, and since most of the school is celebrating I thought I'd give you this."

You're very proud to have said that without stuttering, and you brighten as he blushes.

You hand him the present, and look away as he takes it, your fingers barely brushing.

"Oh, t-thank you." He coughs and looks away as well.

"Also, I wanted to take this as an opportunity to say that I like you, and hope you'll accept my feelings."

His ears turn pink at that, "Feelings?" You can tell he struggled to say that evenly.

You scratch your cheek, still unable to meet his eyes. "Yeah, there's a card inside..."

"O-oh!" He gently opens it--oh so careful not to tear anything--and smiles seeing the crows.

    "Crows, huh?"

    You blush, "W-well--"

He laughs, "It's fine, I appreciate it."

You nod bashfully, feeling too timid to look up at him.

    "Chocolates?"

"H-homemade, yeah. I asked some of your teammates for flavors you liked, I hope you like them."

He chuckles more, "That's why they've been asking. Well I answered truthfully, so I'm sure I'll love them."

You smile and risk looking up, to see him softly gazing right into your eyes. Dang. His eyes are so beautiful, such a rich brown, so mesmerizing.

He breaks eye contact when he looks back into the box and pulls out the card, white with a solid border of black feathers with crows forming, flying into the white. You made it yourself, and are pretty pleased with the end result. By the time he takes to stare at it, you think he's impressed too.

"This is amazing, where'd you get it?"

    "I made it, actually."

He gapes at you, "Really? This is really great, I think it's wonderful."

You laugh a bit as you thank him, nervously playing with the hem of your clothes.

He takes a moment to just smile at you before he opens and reads the card. Oh gosh, you were so mushy in that card! Going from a time line from the first time you met, how he helped you, and then helped you more at the library, little things that you treasured. And about all the things you admire about him, and will always be in awe of. How he leads his team and still is a nice, helpful guy. And how now, you wish he'll accept your feelings and be your boyfriend, where you can try to help him as well.

You didn't lie in any of it, and made it entirely by yourself, having your friends only check for spelling and grammar. You put a lot into those words, and hoped he would accept.

"I see, I," He pauses and you feel your heart lurch and clench almost painfully--rejection--! "I accept, I'd love to be your boyfriend and look forward to being with you. Please take care of me." He bows, and you feel your heart release and explode into a bunch of butterflies, you struggle to keep it down, and can't help but grin a bit.

"Thank you, please take care of me too."

Months later you're alone in the library, looking for a certain aisle. Peering around your shoulder, you see you're still alone and you refrain from checking the time again. Finding the aisle, you search alphabetically for the author, and smile as you see the title you're searching for. It's a bit high, but you're sure you can manage.
You reach for it, and grunt when you have to lean and really stretch for it--suddenly there's a slim hand that appears and gets the book with ease, and you're suddenly not alone anymore. You bite your cheek to supress the smile that wants to break out, and you turn around.

    "Daichi--"

He envelops you into a hug and you laugh, he's usually pretty affectionate after practice when he hasn't seen you in a while. "Have you finished your essay?"

"Almost, I'm working on my last source right now for a proper bibliography, but I needed to find the original quote again."

He nuzzles the top of your head and you smile, leaning into his embrace. "Let's go out Saturday, there's a cafe we could go to, and it's near the movies."

You bite back another grin, "Okay, what time?"

"I was thinking around the time of brunch so we could get those special menu items, we haven't tried them before, but Noya and Asahi claim they're great."

You nod your head, moving him with you. "And we'll decide on the movie when we get there?"

He smiles and presses a soft kiss to your cheek, "Like we usually do, yes."

You grin and hold onto his arms before he breaks away, lacing your hands together as he leads you to the tables go finish up. You are so happy he is yours, and so happy you listened to your friends and didn't chicken out. The end result is perfect.

Nice post and for Daichi
Still Valentine's isn't exactly American in origin and it is celebrated round the world
so might want to look it up on wiki or something but that's just me knit-picking.
