Description From my little sketchbook, originally an ink spill accident that turned into Mary 1.

The 'in retrospect of everything' is actually glued in... it was written down on a piece of paper and hiding under the desk for some inexplicable reason, as the handwriting isn't mine or that of anyone I know. Very very curious. It seems to be dated Sunday, March 16th, 2008.

Uuuug been unable to make much art as of late, other than sketch book smears. Well, smearing is a technique

Loosely based on this portrait of Princess Mary: [link]

acrylic ink, water colour, coloured pencil, illustration pen

i'm faving this for inventiveness and originality. partly becoz i'm in advertising, & we tend to treasure good ideas more than good art - but partly also coz i'm a fan of vivid, vibrant, semifinished artworks. the kind that look like they were done with utmost spontaenity in a few strokes of genius. (even if it actually took a few hours...hey, it's the result that counts.)

I've always preferred Elizabeth more than Mary, but I can't help but love this.

Gotta love being a history geek <333

Me too! Elizabeth was a fascinating woman. Mary actually terrifies me (every portrait of her looks like she wants to eat the face off the artist and any poor viewer), and she wasn't exactly the warmest and fuzziest of human beings. At least she had a delicious drink named in her honour.

Thanks ^^

when I make a mess I'm all out page abuse, or I leave it and wait for the paper to deform =3

brilliant though, and that isn't my handwriting, so I know it wasn't me, not that I often appear under people's tables and write cryptic messages... or do I?

Oh man, crumpling, warped paper can be a treat to work on, though. All colour-saturated and gnarly, like an old hippy.

Thanks! Good to know, sir. You know you do, though you have yet to expand into overseas cryptic-message writing so it is clearly not your handiwork here.

hmm... perhaps... maybe I should hunt down your e-mail (I know it's somewhere around deviantart) and write down random thoughts on paint... send you a little picture... or is there a handwriting tool on e-mail things now? I don't know... I should practice my crypticism... is that a word? tis now >8D

thank you!

Inks spills are incredibly intimidating and incredibly free at the same time. The only thing different between a good ink-splash drawing and a bad one is opinion
